Gilbert is Chief Operating Officer/Chief Financial Officer of the USM Foundation. Gilbert has overall responsibility for the finance and risk management functions of the organization – largely supported by the Foundation’s Business Office. Gilbert is the primary liaison to the Budget/Finance, Audit and Spending Policy Committees as well as the wealth of service providers utilized by the Foundation – including external audit, internal audit, tax custodian/banking and insurance providers. Prior to the USM Foundation, Tom served as the lead senior manager for some of the largest asset management clients at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in both the Baltimore and Philadelphia markets. He was responsible for the day-to-day management of Baltimore-based teams, as well as the coordination of PwC’s service delivery across a global team of approximately 200 members – including teams in Dublin, Edinburgh, London, Los Angeles, Melbourne, New York, Sydney, and Tokyo. Gilbert has a wide range of experiences in the asset management industry in areas such as not-for-profit endowments, investment valuation, business combinations, impairment analyses, hedge funds, fund-of-fund investment products, private equity funds, public and private investment advisers, registered mutual funds, and ETFs.
Gilbert earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Lehigh University in 2007 where he was named the Patriot League Men’s Swimming Scholar-Athlete of the Year. He is a CPA licensed in Maryland. Gilbert and his wife, Caitlyn, have 4 young children and reside in Shrewsbury, PA.
