Mr. Gibbons was recently named President of Summit Commercial Real Estate, an emerging major player in the region’s commercial real estate market. Gibbons plans to focus on increasing his new firm’s book of business from DC-owned and operated companies, including owners and non-profit/association tenants.
He has been a leading commercial real estate broker for over 25 years having leased some of Washington landmarks Washington Harbor, Techworld, Warner Theatre Office building. The list goes on for over 5 million square feet of owners and tenants represented. He also owned, managed or led some of Washington’s premier organizations; Barnes, Morris, Pardoe & Foster, Inc, Insignia ESG (along with WPO member Bob Cohen), Advantis St. Joe, and J Street Companies.
As he sees it, “It is a foregone conclusion that two types of organizations survive and flourish; mega-international, multi-service companies and small, nimble, disciplined, highly-talented, companies focused on a market segment.” His move to Summit allows him to continue to participate and execute transactions and help build a niche company focused solely on DC based companies and organizations.
Mr. Gibbons is a member of the Council of Advisors for the University of Maryland’s graduate program in real estate development. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the University System of Maryland Foundation. Additionally, he is the chairman emeritus of the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of the National Capital Area. Mr. Gibbons served on the board of National Children’s Research Center (NCRC). He was also a member of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO) and is with the World Presidents Organization (WPO), as well as The Economic Club of Washington, DC. He is also a member of Leadership Greater Washington and serves on its board and most recently has been selected to serve on the Board of Trustees of the Foundation for the University of the District of Columbia.
