Nicole R. Pollard is Legal Counsel and Executive Assistant to the President of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME).
Nicole holds a B.S. in Finance from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business and a J.D. from Villanova University’s Charles Widger School of Law. She has dedicated her professional career to advancing the welfare of working families and underrepresented groups. For the past 30 years, she has served as in-house counsel for the largest labor organizations in the United States, including AFSCME, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) and the National Education Association (NEA).
As alumna of the University of Maryland, College Park, Nicole has volunteered her time, talent and treasure to support the university in several areas over the years. She is currently a member of the College Park Foundation Board of Trustees (2015 – present) and has served on its Executive Committee for the last six years. Her past leadership on the College Park campus includes President of the University of Maryland Alumni Association Board of Governors (2013-2015), member of the Robert H. Smith School of Business Board of Advisors (2016 – 2019) and member of the Terrapin Club Scholarship Board of Directors (2014 – 2016). Nicole also served as the College Park representative on the University of Maryland System Alumni Association International Board of Directors (2016 – 2018).
A proud Philadelphian, Nicole currently resides in Laurel, Maryland. In addition to her contributions to the University of Maryland, she serves the community as a life member of Alpha Kappa Sorority, Incorporated and a member of The Links, Incorporated. She enjoys travel, music of various genres, and researching her family’s genealogy.
