Michael A. Gaines is the Assistant Secretary for Real Estate for the Maryland Department of General Services. Prior to that, he had been Senior Vice President of The ROC Realty Group. Gaines was responsible for providing ROC’s clients with a variety of professional real estate advisory services including leasing, property management and strategic planning. His expertise in financial analysis, market and site analysis and real estate transactions enable him to provide value added services to ROC’s clients.
In July 2000, Gaines became the president of the Maryland Center for Arts & Technology. He was previously the Vice President and General Manager for Harborplace and the Gallery for the Rouse Company, a position he had held since 1995. Prior to 1995, Gaines was the President of the Council for Economic and Business Opportunity in Baltimore. He has been a member of the Fund for Educational Excellence, National Aquarium, Development Credit Fund, Baltimore City Chamber of Commerce, Goodwill Industries, and Downtown Partnership.
Gaines received a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1973.
