Hugh F. Cole, Jr., Chairman of Brantly Development Group. Inc., has been a real estate developer in the Baltimore/Washington metropolitan area since 1975. His real estate career started in 1965 with a salesman’s license and a broker’s license in 1968, after which he worked as an Appraisal Associate in Towson, Maryland.
Prior to forming Brantly in 1975, Mr. Cole was an Associate at Morgan Stanley and Co., Inc. in New York from 1970 until 1974 where he was instrumental in helping form their Real Estate Investment arm. Upon returning to Maryland, he established H. F. Cole and Company, Inc., a Real Estate Development/Appraisal/Consulting firm in Columbia, Maryland. He holds an MAI designation and is a member of the Maryland Bar.
Mr. Cole is a member of the Board of the Columbia Foundation in Columbia, Maryland where he has served on numerous committees including the Investment Advisory Committee since 1998. In 1987, he was a director and founding member of the publicly held Columbia Bancorp in Columbia, Maryland, serving on various committees including chairing the Audit Committee from 1992 until 2002. He continues to serve as a Director of The Columbia Bank.
Mr. Cole is founder and president of the Howard County Tennis Patrons, a 501c(3) established to develop a regional tennis center at Troy Park in Howard County, Maryland.
Mr. Cole was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1941 and graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1965 with a BA, majoring in History. He received his JD from the University of Baltimore in 1969. Mr. Cole lives with his wife, Glen, in Garrison, Maryland. They have four children. Cole is an avid tennis player, golfer and pilot.
