Ed McDonald retired as chief of staff at the Maryland Department of Transportation in 2019, a position he held for five years. Before that, he served for 29 years (1985-2002 and 2004-2014) as chief of staff and press secretary for U.S. Rep. Howard Coble (NC–6). In 2003, he was deputy chief of staff for Gov. Robert Ehrlich of Maryland. He had an early career experience as a reporter/news director in New York and North Carolina.
Ed is a Towson University alumnus—Mass Comm and History, ‘78—and served as president of the TU Alumni Association and as a member of TU’s Board of Visitors and Foundation.He’s a commissioner with the Maryland Port Commission. McDonald is also a board member of the Babe Ruth Birthplace and Museum in Baltimore.
