Chancellor Jay Perman Recognized as a Power 10 Award Winner

Chancellor Jay Perman was recognized as a Power 10 Award winner by the Baltimore Business Journal. The award celebrate ten leaders in Baltimore’s public, private, and nonprofit sectors for outstanding achievement and success in their careers, as well as great commitment to their community. The awardees launch new initiatives, are changemakers within their organizations, and are active volunteers.

In a feature in the Baltimore Business Journal, Chancellor Perman reflects on the positions he held prior to joining the System as Chancellor in January 2020. During college and medical school, Dr. Perman worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, a job he considers one of his most important. Throughout his career, Dr. Perman taught pediatrics at universities in California, Virginia, Kentucky, and Maryland and has always had an interest in helping others. Before becoming Chancellor, Dr. Perman served as the President of UMB for ten years.

Dr. Perman serves on a number of national and regional boards and committees such as the Maryland Life Sciences Advisory Board, the Association of American Medical Colleges Council of Deans, the Children’s Cancer Foundation, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
