A 90-minute Zoom workshop on necessary skills to consider when taking on management responsibilities. This is designed for fundraisers who want to know more about becoming a manager, have the ambition or opportunity to become a manager, or are new managers. It can also be useful for any advancement staff member who may have the opportunity to become a manager of a team.

The interactive session will include a discussion on:

  • What are the traits of effective managers?
  • How to evaluate your own strengths and challenges to be a good manager.
  • How to prepare for a management position.
  • Pitfalls to look out for when becoming a manager.
  • The importance of managing up and supporting your supervisor.

Come prepared to share your thoughts, experiences, and observations about effective and not effective management styles, ask questions, and learn from others.

This will include how to collaboratively set goals and objectives, set accountability standards, as well as provide the leadership to motivate a productive team. Come prepared to ask your questions, learn from others, hear ‘tales from the dark side,’ and leave with new ideas and strategies.
