Major General (Ret.) Roger R. Blunt, P.E. is the Managing Member, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Essex Holdings, LLC; a leading engineering, construction, and consulting firm based in Prince George’s County, Maryland. He has experience in program management, construction management, developing commercial and infrastructure projects, and military nuclear licensing and power plant operations. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA), the leading international business association in the US focused on spearheading private sector trade and investment opportunities between the US and Africa.
He served with the US Army Corps of Engineers and held the career designator of Atomic Energy Officer. Upon his retirement from the military in 1986, in recognition of his service as Commander of the 97th Army Reserve Command, he was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal.
He is a West Point graduate; and, he holds Masters Degrees in both Civil and Nuclear Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Doctor of Public Service Degree from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
Among his numerous awards, General Blunt is a Laureate of the Washington Business Hall of Fame, the Hall of Fame of the American Minority Contractors and Business Association, the Maryland Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame, a recipient of the Parren J. Mitchell Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award, and the District of Columbia Society of Professional Engineers Distinguished Engineer Award.
