Foundation Leadership Summit

On May 6th, Walter Fatzinger and I were fortunate to be able to meet many of the chairs of USM's affiliated foundations and our community college foundation colleagues at a half-day "summit" hosted at Hidden Waters, the Chancellor's residence. I was struck by how eager they were to share information--from "war stories" about the current economic climate and practical information about managing a foundation, to inspirational stories about how these leaders became involved. This meeting was just one manifestation of the USM Foundation's commitment to create a sense of community among those who support public higher education in Maryland. We will continue to look for more opportunities to gather these leaders, both to thank them for their work and to share insights and experiences. How can the USM Foundation serve these and other key volunteers? Please share your ideas with us—they are valued.
