Paul Mullan is vice chairman and strategic partner at Charterhouse Group International in New York. The private equity investment firm was founded in 1973 and manages in excess of $1 billion in capital, primarily acquiring and managing middle-market companies. Mr. Mullan joined Charterhouse in 1989. Previously, Mr. Mullan was co-chair and co-CEO of Fleer Corp., the national trading card and candy company, and was co-chair and co-CEO of food processing giant Del Monte Corp. Both companies were Charterhouse portfolio companies.
Other Charterhouse companies at which Mr. Mullan held managerial roles included Wham-O, best-known for making Frisbees, Hula Hoops and Hacky Sack toys, among others; United Design Corp., a maker of giftware and home accessories; and Cellu Tissue, operator of the oldest tissue-making factory in the U.S. Prior to joining Fleer, Mr. Mullan was senior vice president and general manager of the General Brand Group of Leef, Inc. He started his career at Nestlé’s headquarters in New York and later moved to General Mills. Mr. Mullan holds a BS (1968) and an MBA (1970) from the University of Maryland, College Park.
