President’s Message
As we wind down Fiscal Year 2009, I would like to thank the Board and staff for their tireless work. In what we all acknowledge was a challenging year, our staff stepped up their already superlative efforts, and the Board was fully engaged.
I'd like to add a special acknowledgment to David Ramsay for his long-standing contributions to the Board. After 15 years at the helm of the University of Maryland, Baltimore, he is stepping down as president. David has been a real friend of the Foundation. He demonstrated his leadership through his very active participation and regular attendance at Board and Executive Committee meetings over the years. We are indebted to David for his role in helping the Foundation to grow and thrive. His collegiality, wisdom, and humor will be greatly missed. Please read more about David and his outstanding career in the following article.
June has been quite productive: We kicked off the month with the full Board meeting at the University of Baltimore, thanks to the hospitality of UB President Bob Bogolmony and Teresa Silanskis, UB Vice President for Advancement. For a summary of business conducted at the meeting, please see my latest blog entry on the USM Foundation website, "Latest News."
Which leads me to the next item: We are very pleased to announce that we have launched the new Foundation website (http://www.usmf.org). The website not only contains important forms and policy information for administrators, but also the latest Foundation news and the investment reports for board members and Foundation clients. Please take time to go through the site and forward any suggestions to me.
Also, for those of you who are reading this electronically, you can see that we have plunged feet first into the digital age. This change was made to reduce expenses, and we hope you enjoy this new format.
Please note that we will not be publishing LeaderNotes in July; Look for a summer edition in August. As always, please contact me with any questions or suggestions at raley@usmd.edu.
