UMUC Receives Outreach Funding for Veterans

The University of Maryland University College has received a $100,000 grant to enhance its outreach and services for veterans. The grant was awarded by the American Council on Education and the Wal-Mart Foundation through its Success for Veterans program. Grants were made to 20 colleges and universities that have model programs for veterans and their family members. More than 250 colleges and universities applied for the grant, officials said. The money will support efforts to create veteran-specific online orientation programs, expand on-campus veterans service centers, enhance prospective student outreach and strengthen other services for veterans.
