President’s Message
Dear Friends and Colleagues:
It is hard to believe that Fall is almost over. The Foundation annual meeting was well attended and very informative, with insightful updates on the endowment’s investment performance and the state of the markets. We also heard about our move to select a new bank custodian, which will occur soon, and the continued work of the ad hoc revenue subcommittee that is examining the Foundation’s fee and budget structure. The annual meeting was topped off with a fascinating presentation by UMBC associate professor of political science and resident expert on presidential elections, Thomas F. Schaller.
I am pleased to announce the hire of Gina Hossick this month as my new executive administrative assistant. Gina has been with the Foundation for more than three years and has 18 years of legal executive administrative assistant experience. She will be invaluable to me and our team in carrying out the business of the Foundation. I also would like to acknowledge the efforts of Carrie Roberts who served in this position in the interim and will now be moving into the role of board relations associate.
In closing, I want to take time to wish you all a blessed holiday season. This time of year reminds us of our ties to tradition and the people who affect our lives – as much at our institutions as within each of our families. I would like to thank all of our board members, colleagues, and volunteers for their efforts this past year. It is rewarding to know that we are making a difference in the lives of countless people with the work we do.
As always, please contact me with any questions or suggestions at raley@usmd.edu.
With warm regards,Leonard R. Raley, President and CEO
