Joseph B. Gildenhorn is a partner with The JBG Companies, a diversified real estate development and management company that has developed many of the important office buildings and hotels in the Washington, D.C. area. He had also been a Partner at Brown, Gildenhorn & Jacobs in Washington, D.C., a law firm that specializes in real estate. Gildenhorn served as the Ambassador to Switzerland from 1989 until 1993. Prior to that, he was vice chair of the D.C. National Sovran Bank, Franklin National Bank, and founding officer of The JBG Companies. Gildenhorn currently serves as Chairman of the Board of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars and the University of Maryland College Park Foundation. Mr. Gildenhorn received his J.D. from Yale University in 1954, and he is a 1951 graduate of the University of Maryland College of Business and Management. . In 1996, he received the UMCP President’s Distinguished Alumnus Award.
