Federated Campaign Update
USM institutions have made tremendous progress toward the federated $1.7 billion campaign goal. With two years remaining, more than $1.2 billion has been raised as of May 31, 2009 (see table below). Despite the difficult economic circumstances of the past year, eight of the System's thirteen institutions have raised more funds than they did at the same point last year. In fact, three of these have already met their FY 2009 annual goals, including Frostburg State University, Salisbury University, and the University of Maryland University College (UMUC). Four institutions are on pace to meet their goals: UMB, Towson University, Bowie State University, and Coppin State University. Particularly noteworthy is Frostburg State University, which has raised twice the level of philanthropic dollars than in FY '08. UMUC and the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science have each increased their annual totals by 50% and 49% respectively. This progress bodes well for the specific USM institutions working to build their programs, reflecting a robust commitment to public higher education among Maryland's generous communities.
