UMBC 40th Anniversary Celebration to Feature Norman Augustine
As part of its 40th anniversary celebration, UMBC will host the Langenberg Lecture on October 20th. The Langenberg Lecture is an annual event endowed in honor of former USM Chancellor Don Langenberg. This year, Norman R. Augustine, retired Lockheed Martin Chairman, President and CEO, will speak on the importance of mathematics and science education in maintaining American competitiveness in the global economy. This is the topic of a report by the National Academies’ Committee on Prospering in the Global Economy of the 21st Century, Rising Above the Gathering Storm. Mr. Augustine headed the committee and has testified before Congress on behalf of the National Academies.
