Contributions to the University System of Maryland and our affiliated campus foundations represent tangible investments in the future of higher education. Every year, thousands of alumni and friends support our campuses, research institutions, and regional higher education centers in Shady Grove and Hagerstown. USM Advancement staff work closely with the USM Foundation to forge relationships with the private sector and the foundation community for the benefit of the USM's 13 degree-granting and research institutions as well as the Shady Grove and Hagerstown Regional Learning Centers.
The Office of Advancement Research provides confidential research profiles on individuals, corporations and foundations of interest, for those institutions within the System that do not have their own research departments, in accordance with the specific institution's need and initiatives.
The Office of Advancement Services works in an advisory and support-based capacity to provide the functionality for Consortium members* to further their fundraising efforts. They oversee the IT enterprise that houses fundraising software and consolidated databases for Consortium members to help manage their institutional advancement information. Some of the charges the Office of Advancement Services are tasked with include the acquisition of third party fundraising software; development and support of the IT architecture; populating alumni and gift data for each institution; establishing procedures; and supporting overall fundraising efforts of the Consortium.
