Paul G. Wood is the Vice President and Chief Lobbyist for Verizon in Maryland. In this role he directs the company’s Annapolis office, and serves as the primary liaison between the company and members of the General Assembly, the Administration, and all state agencies. Mr. Wood began his career with C&P of West Virginia in 1978. In 1983, he transferred to Washington, DC and later Arlington, VA, where he directed Bell Atlantic’s region-wide activities in media relations, advertising and employee communications.

In 1991, Mr. Wood was appointed Director-Public Affairs in Maryland, and in 2004 Vice President and Chief Lobbyist - Maryland State Government Affairs. Mr. Wood’s community involvement is extensive. He is a past president and current board member of the Signal 13 Foundation supporting the Baltimore City Police. He also serves as a trustee with the Living Classroom’s Foundation in Baltimore and with Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts in Annapolis. Paul also served as president and later chairman of the Independent College Fund of Maryland, and is a past president of Leadership Anne Arundel.

Mr. Wood attended West Virginia University where he received a BS degree in Journalism. He has also attended executive-level courses at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business and the University of Virginia’s Darden Graduate School of Business Administration. He is also a graduate of Leadership Maryland. Mr. Wood resides in Arnold, Maryland and he has two sons.
