With a life-long passion focused on healthcare, Ms. Patricia Murray exemplifies today’s consummate healthcare executive. Serving as the Chief Officer, Office of Disability and Medical Assessment and President and Chief Operating Officer of P.D. Murray and Associates LLC, Ms. Murray reflects the highest traditions of public service as she leads nation-wide efforts to ensure quality health care for veterans. Recognized for her leadership and expertise in the healthcare profession, Ms. Murray is highly sought after as a leader, contributor and speaker for professional committees, conferences and working groups. Ms. Murray leverages her expertise in Veterans health care policies and strategies at the national, regional and local levels to improve and enhance healthcare programs in different models and venues. As a leader, Ms. Murray is recognized for her strategic thinking and operational excellence, combined with an innate ability to “get the best” from her staff, optimizing resources. With an outstanding reputation for developing staff, Ms. Murray coaches and mentors staff, peers, and associates. Under her leadership, Ms. Murray’s current organization with the VA has leading scores in employee satisfaction and engagement, reflecting her personal dedication to staff, fostering a cohesive working environment. Ms. Murray’s leadership, expertise and commitment to quality health care is reflected in her selection for key executive committees, including her recent to the current Secretary’s Task Force for the strategic transformation of the VA to the 21st century that is capable of meeting the complex health care needs of veterans. Ms. Murray shares her healthcare expertise through her collaboration through professional memberships with the American Hospital Association's American Society of Healthcare Risk Management and the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Ms. Murray’s outstanding contributions and dedication as a healthcare leader have been recognized with a myriad of awards for her leadership, commitment and technical expertise, including: Recipient of Air Force Commendation Medal 1997, 1994, and 2002; Commander’s Humanitarian Award, Air Force Meritorious Service Medal and Veteran’s Administration Annual Performance Award. With career and life-long efforts to promote diversity, Ms. Murray exploits advocacy opportunities, with recent recognition for her work as a member of the Secretary’s Advisory Board for Minority Affairs, ensuring effective services for both minority veterans and VA employees.

Ms. Murray’s career has encompassed positions as a staff nurse, Air Force flight nurse and Medical Service Corp officer, and, finally serving with the Veterans Administration in a series of progressively responsible leadership positions, culminating in her recognition and participation at the most senior levels of the organization. Beginning her career with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing, graduating with honors from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois, Ms. Murray values education and professional development. Ms. Murray continued her education at DePaul University, achieving a Masters of Science in Public Administration, again as an Honor Graduate. Leveraging her personal commitment to development, Ms. Murray has realized professional certification in a variety of areas, including a Fellow America College of Healthcare Executive (FACHE), the American College of Healthcare Executives, a Certificate of Risk Management, American Hospital Association, a Certified Healthcare Executive, American College, a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality, and a member of the National Association of Healthcare Quality.

Valuing the many opportunities she has experienced, Ms. Murray believes in “giving back” through dedicated service to a broad spectrum of professional and community organizations. Ms. Murray serves on the Board of Directors for the Coppin State University Foundation in a vital role on the finance committee, and participating member of the Washington D.C. chapter of the Coalition of 100 Black Women, leading the organization’s extremely successful fund-raising projects that support efforts to improve the condition of women and children in the District of Columbia through scholarships, a community service center, and support of a local grade school class. To further support her professional network, Ms. Murray is an active member of the Reserve Officer’s Association (ROA - Life Time Member), the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States (AMSUS), the Federal Executive Institute Alumna Association, and the Interagency Institute Alumna Association. Ms. Murray also has significant personal interests, including achieving a Realtor’s license, as well as professional mediation certification.
