USM Foundation Honorary Director Robert Fischell Receives National Medal of Technology and Innovation

A longtime inventor and University of Maryland at College Park scientist and engineer with more than 200 patents to his name has won a prestigous National Medal of Technology and Innovation for creating medical devices that have saved millions of people around the world. President Barack Obama presented Dr. Robert E. Fischell and seven others with the award during a ceremony in the East Room of the White House Thursday.
