Brendan Iribe, Oculus CEO, Gives $31M for New UMD Computer Science Building

The University of Maryland announced a gift of $31 million from Oculus co-founder and CEO and UMD alumnus Brendan Iribe – the largest gift in the university's history. The gift will be used to fund construction of a new computer science building and create a new endowed scholarship.

USM Foundation Promotes Bill Wojcik to Chief Operating Officer

The Center for Academic Innovation Advisory Board plays an important role in shaping the agenda and developing the long-range plan that will be necessary to achieve the mission and sustain and expand the Center’s initiatives. In addition, the Board plays a key role by evaluating the progress of the Center as well as generating project ideas and project priorities. Congratulations to B. Gary Dando, Linda Gooden, and Cliff Kendall!

The gift will fund the Fedder Scholars Program and the Fedder Environmental Law Lecture and Dinner. It will also support the Environmental Law Program so it can recruit senior attorneys to continue the important work of protecting Maryland's environment. The gift was pledged by alumnus Joel Fedder, JD, '58, and his wife, Ellen.
